Tebubio Partners with 4Dcell to Expand Access to Advanced 3D Cell Culture, “NAMs”, Technologies

Tebubio, a European distributor of life science research reagents and services, partners with 4Dcell, a pioneering company specializing in the design of innovative cell culture environments. This collaboration aims to expand access to advanced technologies that support researchers working on 3D culture and organoid-based models.

4Dcell has developed SmartSPhero, an innovative scaffold and microenvironment designed to guide cell organization and promote the formation of physiologically relevant in vitro models. The key innovation lies in the anchoring point at the bottom of each microwell, which ensures that spheroids and organoids remain attached. This feature enables the game-changing ability to maintain their position on the same focal plane throughout culture and imaging. Each well contains multiple microwells, providing a high level of precision, while the optimized design ensures exceptional reproducibility—over 95% across experiments. SmartSPhero offers researchers a robust and user-friendly platform to better replicate in vivo conditions across a wide range of applications and cell types.

SmartSPhero has been engineered for simplicity and seamless integration into standard laboratory workflows. Researchers can plate their cells directly onto the scaffold without additional complexity, enabling straightforward adoption in existing protocols. By combining innovation, precision, and ease of use, SmartSPhero empowers scientists to advance in vitro research while reducing reliance on animal models, providing more predictive, ethical, and scalable solutions for drug discovery, toxicology, and fundamental research.

Through this partnership, Tebubio will make SmartSPhero available to laboratories across Europe. The addition of this technology to Tebubio’s offering will particularly support the development of 3D cell culture setups and organoid systems, helping researchers investigate complex cellular interactions and assess the effects of modulators and potential drug candidates in advanced biological models.
